Fresh Water Jailhouse
Above a depth of 16 metres the cave passages leading from Cenote Jailhouse are filled with fresh water. Green-tinged water and dark tannic-stained formations are a predominant feature of the cave.
Percolation is the name cave divers give to the silt dislodged from the roof of a cave when exhaled bubbles rise and strike the rock.
Window to the underworld
A cenote in Mexico is a window to the underworld, allowing cave divers access to the caves.
