Lovely to see all those kingfish. But imagine the same sight with all those fish up around 25 kilos! That is how it was back in the 1960's and 70's. The ones in your photo are piddly little rat kingies, but in the reserve they may have a chance to grow big eventually. Then they will be spectacular.

So true Roger, and such a shame. Sometimes I like to imagine what life would be like if there was no fishing in New Zealand at all, and you could swim off any beach into a scene like that. Now that would be epic! Leave a Reply. |
